Hrant Dink’s lawyer died
he was found hanged in his flat
Hakan Karadag, plaintiff lawyer at the trial against Hrant Dink’s murderers, was found hanged in his Istanbul flat on Friday 4 June.
During the trial the main defendant, Ogun Samast, had repeatedly threatened him before the court, to then though retract after a formal protest. Police have been investigating the actual cause of his death. Three years after the Armenian journalist’s murder the Turkish court failed to hand down a sentence against the confessed criminal.

A note handwritten and undersigned by the writer was found by scholar Pietro Tosco who is publishing it into the magazine "La Nuova Europa" (“The New Europe”) with a broad text analysis.
The document brings about a bitter reflection on the victory of Stalingrad, one which highlights a parallelism between this battle and the Holocaust.

The dissident director arrested in March has been freed on bail. He had begun a protest hunger strike some days ago. Over the past few weeks there had been worldwide calls for his release, including those of many Hollywood stars taking part into the Cannes festival, whose jury he had been invited to join.
